Tomoka Asai

Tomoka Asai was born in Tokyo and moved to Scotland at the age of 15. She studied fine arts in the UK and moved to Italy to attend Fashion school at Instituto Marangoni Milano, graduated in London in 2007.

After her graduation show at V&A Museum, she was spotted on Wallpaper, Haper’s BAZAAR.
Il Foglio Italiano also offered to present her private show at Sketch in London. She has worked at design studios such as Alexander McQueen, Anteprima Japan, and E.Marinella.
She came back to her roots of Japanese culture and tradition where her family produces kimonos from Kyoto. Her message is to pass this beauty of Japanese craftsmanship, and culture to the rest of the world and also to the new generation.
Tomoka strives to be unique, edgy, and fresh, contributing to her definitive style. Japanese vintage kimonos for each individual’s life story.
