TOMOKA ASAI
Tomoka Asai was born in Tokyo and moved to Scotland at the age of 15.
She studied fine arts in the UK and moved to Italy to attend Fashion school at Istituto Marangoni Milano, graduated in London in 2007.
After her graduation show at V&A, she was spotted on Wallpaper*,Harper’s BAZAAR
Il Foglio Italiano also offered to present her private show at Sketch in London. She has worked at design studios such as Alexander McQueen, Anteprima Japan, and E.Marinella.
She came back to her roots of Japanese culture and tradition where her family produces kimonos from Kyoto. Her message is to pass this beauty of Japanese craftsmanship, and culture to the rest of the world and also to the new generation.

What materials are used in your kimono?
The main fabrics for traditional Japanese kimono are silk, linen, cotton, wool, and polyester. Please check the description before the purchase

Shipping is free?
Shipping is free only within Italy.
For countries within the European Union (EU), a shipping fee will apply, which will be shown at checkout. We only ship to Italy and EU countries. Unfortunately, we do not offer shipping to destinations outside of the EU at this time.
The shipping time for an order within Italy typically takes 7 business days from the time of the order. Shipping times for international orders within the EU may vary due to customs. The seller is not responsible for any international import duties or taxes.
How do I fold a kimono?
- Spread kimono out
- Lay your garment flat & fold the outer edge of the left front to its side seam, then lay the edge of the other front on top.
- Fold entire garment in half lengthwise.
- Fold uppermost sleeve over body.
- Fold body upwards in half or, if you prefer, in thirds.
- Fold other sleeve underneath.
How do I take care of kimono?
Dry clean only. Our suggestion is to avoid using a steam iron. Please make sure to use a dry iron with a thin cotton fabric over the kimono to prevent marking the fabric and making it shiny.
